I’ll be honest, the fact that I have a PhD from Vanderbilt University simply means I have grit, determination, diligence, and I’m super organized and deadline-oriented. You won’t hear me talk about it much because I don’t feel it defines me. After earning my doctorate in Sociology, I realized that the life of an academic was not for me. End of that story.

My career since then has exemplified both the nerd and the hippie in me. On the one hand, the nerd has been responsible for my mastery of numbers, project management, and tackling tough sales and operations challenges. The hippie side, on the other hand, is very into health and wellness, meditation, creativity, and Reiki— I’ve been a Reiki Master Teacher and meditation facilitator since 2009 and I am also a Group Fitness Instructor. You may see these things as unrelated, but I find that I am able to stay calm under pressure and that I tend to be creative and innovative when faced with challenges because I can tap into both sides of the brain.

The main reason I turned my skills into a freelance opportunity is because I love working from home where I get to raise my daughter and be with my dogs (and my husband on his days off). I have always been driven in my career, but with the birth of our daughter in 2019 and the death of our beautiful dog Darla in 2020 (pictured here), I have finally managed to balance the most important things in my life with the work I love and enjoy. I have the best of both worlds, and it is my hope that if we work together, I am able to bring some balance into your life as well.
